Help! I'm trying to top up the beans, but I can't open the zipper. What should I do?
Stop! Please don't do anything else until you read this ...
Our bean bags use safety zippers to comply with Australian safety standards. These zippers do not have a pull tab, so that children cannot open them and access the filling. These safety zippers are designed not to be opened by hand.
Inside the small metal slider part of the zipper, there is a locking mechanism that keeps the zipper teeth engaged. To open it, you need to insert a paperclip, pin, or something similar into the small hole of the slider, below the mechanism (see photo). Then, apply a gentle pulling action upwards to lift the internal mechanism. While holding it up, you can slide the zipper open.
It is important not to use pliers, WD40, or other forceful methods. These can damage the zipper mechanism and such damage is considered misuse, which voids the warranty.
If it's extra tight for some reason (but it shouldn't be), you can spray a little silicon spray onto the zipper and mechanism.
